Background

New Jersey's HVAC contractors are in a strong position to lead the state’s rapidly growing heat pump market; as a state where 96% of homes use some kind of air conditioning equipment and 65% use a furnace for space heating, New Jersey contractors have an opportunity to become leaders in the growing heat pump market and workforce as new cold climate heat pumps will soon outsell air conditioners.

This creates a significant opportunity for HVAC businesses. As cold-climate heat pumps continue to improve and become more competitive with traditional heating and cooling equipment, demand for contractors who can properly assess, size, sell, install, and service heat pump systems will continue to grow. For contractors, this isn't simply a shift in equipment—it's a growing market for new installations, replacements, upgrades, and service work. Businesses that develop heat pump expertise now can position themselves to win more of this work and stay ahead as customer demand increases. 

Event Description

Hosted by the Energy Efficiency Alliance, in partnership with ICF and PSEG, we invite you to join us for “Business Critical Skills for a Growing Heat Pump Market Contractor training”, a free half-day training on heat pump systems and more. 

The training demonstrates how today's heat pumps work, how they can integrate with demand response programs, installation and Healthy Homes practices that maximize comfort, proper operation of systems, cost savings, and effective ways to communicate these benefits to customers -- from those replacing outdated central air systems to those installing conditioning for the first time.

Training topics covered include:

• Market transformation 
• Heat Pump operations and efficiency
• Installation best practices re Manual J, D and S
• Customer communication and managing region-specific needs
• Handling objections and pricing conversations
• Benefits and drawbacks, including how healthy homes and weatherization fits in
• Numerous manufacturers and distributors' industry perspectives 
• Utility and State Incentive Programs

Audience

Contractors who are interested in up skilling their heat pump design and commissioning, communication and sales, and general energy efficiency acumen should register using this form. 

Additional participant requirements include: 

• Live or work in the state of New Jersey
• Work or want to work in a role that involves heat pump installation, heat pump sales, or company ownership of an organization that conducts this work
• Currently or plan to conduct some portion of work in the residential building sector
